Tsunami 2004 with the magnitude of 9.1 at Richter scale was the second greatest earthquake ever recorded in human history, death toll from this disaster was more than 230000 people; scale of the Tsunami was massive, it affected countries far and wide from India to Indonesia.

According to experts this natural disaster was occurred by an under water earthquake caused by the friction of Indian tectonic plates and another plate; according to latest research energy released by this great Tsunami was close to 1.1×1017 joules, 1502 times more than Hiroshima atom bomb.

asteroid-hits-earth“We will soon hold a closed meeting of our collegium, the science-technical council to look at what can be done, to prevent the asteroid Apophis from slamming into the planet in 2036″ said Russian scientist named Anatoly Perminov, who is a rocket scientist and also a mechanical engineer,he told this to  reporters when they were asking him about asteroid aphophis and Russia’s plans to prevent it from colliding with planet earth.

According to latest news,Russian scientists are working on numerous options to implement their above mentioned plan like building a space apparatus to divert apophis from colliding with earth and this type of plan will be of international level involving countries like China,USA and some European countries; latest NASA findings have revealed that Probability of Apophis has dropped from one-in-45,000 to about four-in-a-million

November 17,2009 is the date when we will see the peak of the meteor shower named 2009 Leonid Meteor Shower;this particular meteor shower is called “Leonids meteor shower” because after seeing this it seems that meteoroids are coming out of constellation Leo in the sky; we can observe this spectacular event best from Asian countries; in this meteor shower we can see approximately 30-500 meteoroids per hour.

Scientists say that best time to see these showers is at night and observer should move away from the city lights to get the good view of this event.

Meteor shower is an extraterrestrial event caused by streams of meteoroids entering earth’s atmosphere at very high speeds and Meteoroid’s size is no more than grain of sand.
